The residential neighbourhood of Chobham Manor is situated between Queen Elisabeth Olympic Park, East Village and the Velodrome. Once the development was completed in 2022, improvements to the public realm and road design began on Honour Lea Ave, Olympic Park Avenue, Temple Mills Lane and Abercrombie Road. Phase 1 includes four junctions along Honour Lea Avenue at: Madison Way, Peloton Avenue, Derny Avenue and Sunrise Close. Phase 2 to be delivered separately.
The project focuses on providing high quality connectivity by connecting gaps in cycle network with continuous crossings, extension of the cycleways, and creating accessibility for all through new formal and informal crossings and dropped kerbs, extension to footway and reduction of kerb radii and a tidy up of street clutter.
Providing high quality pedestrian, wheeling and cycling routes through continuous and safer designs will encourage more people to choose active travel in their daily routines, creating a more sustainable community and support Mayor’s ambition for Net Zero by 2030.
