The area of Bromley-by-Bow between the A12 and River Lea is undergoing major change. The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), in partnership with London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH), want to make sure the local streets and spaces are fit for everyone who uses them, both today and in the future.
Bromley-by-Bow is recognised as a potential future District Centre in the LLDC Local Plan and LBTH Draft Local Plan. Furthermore, the Bromley-by-Bow Supplementary Planning Document (SPD, 2017) sets out the ambition to improve the liveability and local connectivity in the Bromley-by-Bow area to the east of the A12. TfL consulted on potential improvements to local connectivity in 2018 under the title ‘Bow Vision’.
LLDC, working in partnership with LBTH, have developed proposals to improve the streets at the core of the Bromley-by-Bow area including Hancock Road, Three Mills Lane and Imperial Street. The proposals also look at how to improve the approach to the underpasses beneath the A12 and the public open space around Tesco. The landowners and developers in Bromley-by-Bow recognise the importance of improving the local environment and transport links, making walking and cycling safer and easier in order to improve people's day-to-day experience, and have made financial contributions to make these changes happen.
