Pool Street and Carpenters Road (South)
The Pool Street and Carpenters Road (South) project seeks to create an improved pedestrian and cycle environment at Pool Street and the southern section of Carpenters Road closest to the London Aquatics Centre car park entrance. Connections from the south to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the venues in this area are poor and the public realm uninviting. Carpenters Road is a strategically important route that links Stratford in LB Newham to Hackney Wick in LB Hackney.
This project would create better cycling links to QEOP and East Bank, the UK's newest cultural quarter from the UCL East campus, Carpenter’s Estate, and Stratford High Street. Walking and cycling improvements will be complimented by greening and other open space improvements as part of the project.
